What is ACI?

Definition of the Advance Cargo Information (ACI) system Libya.

In accordance with the World Customs Organization’s Framework of Standards to Secure and Facilitate Global Trade (WCO-SAFE), the Advance Cargo Information (ACI) system is a system that enables the advance provision of shipment information by inserting data elements that allow for the identification of high-risk shipments before shipping and/or arrival at the destination country.

 

Advantages of Advance Cargo Information “ACI”

The ACI system offers several advantages:

  • Securing and facilitating international trade.
  • Targeting high-risk shipments to combat smuggling and commercial fraud.
  • Combating tax evasion.
  • Monitoring accompanying documents before the shipping process and ensuring their accuracy, such as commercial invoices, bills of lading, certificates of origin, etc.
  • Reducing the clearance and dwell times of goods at Libyan ports, thereby reducing costs.
